KHARKHIRAA and TURGEN - Snow capped Mountains

This is a big mountain range, located between Achit and Uvs lakes, and is a branch of the Mongolian Altai Mountain Range. Yol, Khargait, Altan Khukhiin Mountain Range, including Buraat and Buural Mountains with 2500-3000 m altitudes, is on the south side while Bairamiin Mountain Range including Tsakhir and Khalzan Mountains with 2800-3000 m altitude is on the north of Turgen Mountain.

ALTAI TAVAN BOGD - Snow capped Mountains

Altai Tavan Bogd, highest point of Mongolian territory: is a picturesque mountain with glacier and a permanent snow peak and is located at the cross borders of the west of Mongolia with Russia and China. The mountain is called Altai Tavan Bogd because of five holy peaks of Altai. Those five peaks are Khuiten (4374 m high, and it has been called Ikh Mongol since 2006), Nairamdal (4082 m), Malchin (4037m), Burged (4068 m) and Ulgii (4050 m).

TARVAGATAI RANGE

Tarvagatai Range, a big branch of the Khangai Range, branches perpendicularly out to the south from Duruu and Khanginah mountains. The range includes many high peaks and mountains including Marz, Zurkhiin Khunh and Zaastain Gyalgar mountains which are along the north of Khoid Terkh River, as well as Solongot mountain pass, beginning of Santiin range, Temeen Chuluutiin Khavirga, Nariin range, Khutg mountain, Khandgait mountain, Khartsag mountain pass, Asgatiin Buluu mountain and Temeen Chuluunii Khyar.

KHUGNU KHAAN MOUNTAIN

Khugnu Khan Mountain is located to the northeast of Mongol sand dunes (Mongol Els), 20 km to the west of Rashaant soum centre. The landscape consists of smallish mountains around 1500 to 2000 m in altitude and small hills and plains between them. The highest point is Tsetserleg (1967 m). This mountain is consists of yellowish granite stones and rocks. This area is rare in rivers and lakes. The biggest river is the Tamiin River, rises from the back of Zuun Khairkhan Mountain and flows into the Khar Bukh River.

KHERLEN BAYAN ULAAN MOUNTAIN

This worshipped mountain keeps ancient historical vestiges and is located to the east of the Kherlen River. The mountain is a part of the Khentii Range. The highest point is Delgerkhaan Mountain (2042 m). This mountain is more humid than the surrounding plains and has rich grass and pastures. There are approximately 1000 winter places where nomadic people spend their winter.

KHAN KHUKHII MOUNTAIN

Khankhukhii Range, the west boundary of Khangai range, is 180 km long from west to east. Togtokhii Shil, a part of this range, separates Uvs Lake depression and Khyargas Lake depression. The range is located in the mid of the Great Lakes Basin, therefore it is little different from other Khangai Range branches and mountains. The backside of the range is very humid and mountain meadow, forest and steppe landscape dominate.

GOVI GURVAN SAIKHAN MOUNTAIN

The Gurvan Saikhan Mountain Range consists of Baruun (west) Saikhan, Dund (middle) Saikhan and Zuun (east) Saikhan mountains along with other mountains. The range covers an area 100 km long in the east part of Gobi Altai Range. Mountains in Gurvan Saikan Range are 2500 to 2600 m high. The highest peak is Shand Mountain (2815 m) in Zuun Saikhan Mountiain. Gurvan Saikhan Range has many scree slopes and rocky cliffs and it has been influenced by the Hot and arid Gobi climate, but the high mountains hold more humidity.

IKH GAZRIIN CHULUU

The 2 mountains with granite stone massifs and taluses located in Mongolian granite stone zone, Dundgobi province are Ikh and Baga Gazriin Stones. Ikh Gazriin Stone covers more than 20 km long area consisting of north and south parts.

EEJ KHAIRHAN MOUNTAIN

Granite covered mountain Eej Khairkhan, 50 km from Tsogt soum centre, is located alone in the depression of Zakhui. This mountain is tent shared with sharp peak and has 1600 m average altitude. All sides have a slope aspect of 50° and the main peak has steep rocky wall with 50 m relative height.

BULGAN MOUNTAIN

Bulgan Mountain with granite rocks is a very beautiful mountain and is located to the north of Tsetserleg town. This mountain is an east branch of main Khangai Range. South Bulgan Mountain, located in the north of Tsetserleg town, is 1980 m above sea level and is relatively 280 m. It is one of three Bulgan Mountains and another two are middle Bulgan Mountain with 1940 m absolute and 240 m relative altitudes and north Bulgan with 220 m absolute and 200 m relative altitudes.
